 As our monthly race day falls on Saturday October 31st this year we will be holding a Halloween Regatta! Same rules and prizes apply for the COPA LFSC though there will be an additional prize for best costume! Join us for the second to last race day of the year and see who will be the best dressed on the water! Also be sure to check back soon for photos and info from the event!

 Yesterday the first winners of our Sailing Scholarship Program joined us at LFSC for a fun day on the water! The two students from Ficus Tree Elementary School learned how to read wind direction, sailing knots, how to rig and de-rig their boats, how to right their boats, and how to sail a beam reach course independently between two buoys practicing basic sail trim and boat handling skills. The two scholars got the hang of things quickly and sailed extremely well! At Ficus Tree Montessori School winners are elected not only based on their academic skills but rather by how they excel at being respectful, responsible, self-disciplined, independent, creative, self motivated, organized, and collaborative children that practice leadership and global thinking. By working hard to be the best we can be as students and as humans on this planet we may open doors to many positive opportunities like learning to sail a small sailing dinghy in Costa Rica! Keep up the good work kids!

For the second year consecutively LFSC will have a stand in the Puntarenas Nautical Festival on Saturday 21 & Sunday 22 of November thanks to the INA (National Learning Institute), where we will hold activities to promote the sport of dinghy sailing in Costa Rica as well as the Grand Final of the COPA LFSC. La Fragata Sailing Club activities include: Friday November 20 at 4pm - Sunday November 22 at 4pm · Stop by our stand to check out our club wear for sale, get information about our sailing classes and camps, and learn how to tie a couple sailing knots! Saturday November 21 · Free introduction to sailing classes for children from 6-16 years of age, · Free sailing and regatta practice for LFSC sailors Sunday November 22 · Regatta · Competitors lunch · Awards ceremony All competitors in the Sunday regatta will receive an event shirt and hat and 1st, 2nd, & 3rd places will receive COPA LFSC medals and INA custom hand crafted trophies! Winners of the 2015 COPA LFSC will also be announced at the awards ceremony on the Sunday afternoon where 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places will receive prizes and trophies! Who will be the defending champion for 2016?! ***Sailors wishing to compete in the regatta must submit their sign up form by October 15th.
